Kids and the Arts field trips are available to schools and educational groups throughout the region. Eligible Ventura County and LVUSD schools and groups may apply for free field trips. Paid field trips are available to all schools and groups for $15 per seat.

Free field trips: Ventura County and LVUSD public schools, as well as eligible homeschool and independent groups.

Paid field trips: Private schools, schools and groups outside Ventura County, and Ventura County schools seeking additional field trips beyond their free show.

Each student is limited to one free Kids and the Arts performance per school year.

Paid field trips are not subject to this limit and may be booked whenever space is available, even if you are attending a free performance already.

No. Free field trips are in high demand, and submitting an application does not guarantee placement. Applications received during the initial September 1–15 window will be reviewed together before initial placements are made.

Yes. The application will remain open until all shows have been filled. The purpose of the application window is to more fairly process the initial rush of applications at the start of the season.

Yes. Multiple teachers may submit applications, but please make sure that each application clearly identifies the classrooms or grade levels it represents. If multiple applications appear to be registering the same students, TOArts may contact your school to clarify the total group size.

Free field trips are in high demand, and since each group only gets to attend one show for free every school year, we use an application and placement process to make the best use of available seats, and reduce the need to fill out multiple applications to only attend one show.

Your application lets you tell us which performances work for your group and rank your preferences. We’ll use that information when making placements.

Each performance has a fixed seating capacity. Your application should include your best estimate of the number of students and chaperones attending, whether you’re a homeschool family requesting 3 seats, or an entire school with 300 seats.

Once your trip is confirmed, you’ll have an opportunity to provide updated attendance numbers.

Yes, you will have the opportunity to confirm your exact attendance numbers about two months before your performance date. Please contact us earlier if your real attendance numbers will be drastically different than the estimate on your application, as performances have fixed seating capacities, we cannot guarantee that additional seats will be available.

Please contact TOArts as soon as possible if your group can no longer attend. Early notice allows us to offer available seats to another school.

TOArts does not provide transportation for field trips, schools are responsible for arranging their own transportation after getting approved.

Eligible Ventura County public schools attending free field trips may request reimbursement for approved transportation costs.

After your free field trip placement is confirmed, you’ll receive information about requesting transportation reimbursement. All reimbursement requests are subject to approval and a per-seat expense cap. Transportation Costs exceeding our cap might only be eligible for partial reimbursement.

No. Transportation reimbursement is not available for paid field trips.

Homeschool and independent groups participating in free field trips are responsible for arranging and paying for their own transportation.

All students and chaperones will go through security upon arriving at the theatre, no outside food or drink including metal or reusable water bottles will be allowed (small sealed plastic water bottles for students who absolutely need it are acceptable). No oversized backpacks will be allowed unless required for students needing ADA support.

Due to the urgency to clear the parking lot and buses in a timely manner before and after the performance, we cannot accommodate students staying at the Civic Arts Plaza to have a sack lunch. If you wish to enjoy a lunch while out, a map to local neighborhood parks is included in your confirmation email.

Kids and the Arts field trips are able to be offered for free to Ventura County public schools, and at a significant discount to other schools because of generous donations from our incredible supporters and Audience Circle members, and through sponsorships.
