The TOArts Advanced Summer Theatre Conservatory is an intensive two-week program for high-school and collegiate students taking place at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center. During the program, students will gain an in-depth, well-rounded experience of the entire theatrical process from creation through performance, tech, and stage management.

With this year’s program, we’re taking the conservatory mission of developing multi-hyphenate pre-professional artists and going even deeper into hands-on application. This year, we will devote additional days to story creation and development, the process of producing and artistic directing, theatre performance, and technical design and production with a culminating performance in the Scherr Forum Theatre. Students will work with award-winning writers, directors, and designers, as well as Broadway veterans, to gain experience in all different facets of modern theatre production and be grouped into mini creative teams to create their own original 15-minute theatre pieces.

Conservatory participants are selected via an application and required Zoom interview. Applicants will choose to apply for either the performance track (which requires a performance video submission) or the production track (open to students interested in directing, writing, design, stage management, arts administration, or any other element of theatre production). The production track is open to students without experience as long as they can demonstrate an interest in live theatre production.

The program ran from July 15 – 31, 2024. Details for next years program will be announced in Spring 2025.
