Kids and The Arts Field Trips

Transforms the lives of youth by providing free access to live theatre for all school-aged youth in Ventura County as well as presents BAPAC artists in general assemblies at local schools.

These field trips are available for any Title I and non-Title I school in Ventura County. Home school and private schools please use the register link to submit an inquiry. Availability will be based on space, with priority given to public schools.

Tomás and the Library Lady | January 17 and 18, 2023

Tomás the son of migrant farm workers, meets a librarian who introduces him to the wonderful world of books. The stories enrich the lives of Tomás’ family and instill a love of reading. This is the inspiring true story of Tomás Rivera, who grew up in a migrant worker family, befriended a librarian in Iowa, and learned to love books and the places they took him. Tomás went on to a successful career in academia and became the chancellor of the University of California, Riverside. Adapted from the well-loved book, this play can be readily understood by both English and Spanish speakers.

NORTH: The Musical | February 14 and 15, 2023

NORTH follows the journey of a teenage boy named Lawrence and his young mother, Minnie, as they escape the Deep South and travel North through the Underground Railroad, to seek their freedom. NORTH is based on actual accounts of slave escapes. While acknowledging the realities of slavery, the book and original jazz compositions brings out the full experience of freedom-seekers: optimism, bravery, playfulness, wonder, suspense and mystery.
